Peter Volante
Software Engineer
Peter Volante graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1958 and was introduced to computer science and programming while working at Sikorsky Aircraft and System Development Corporation (SDC). He came to the Instrumentation Laboratory as part of a team of SDC contractors to assist in writing the software for the AGC, and worked on the Lunar Module Rendezvous Navigation program . As the guidance system software matured, Peter became involved in testing complete Apollo mission sequences, such as Rendezvous, Lunar Landing, and Ascent. A formal test plan was developed and the software exhaustively tested to demonstrate that it could complete the mission successfully.
